It is difficult to wait. Both Kirsten and I are leaders at heart and love to take charge. That is sometimes a rubbing point in our marriage, but we recognize that and do what we can to avoid conflict. It is also a rubbing point in our marriage with God. He is ultimately leading us and we want to be walking with Him, not in front, not behind, but WITH Him. Since our return from Honduras we have realized many things. We saw all that the teens in Honduras were going through, what Teen Missions calls "Boot Camp." Let me tell you it looked hard. Well, we're going through our own personal boot camp right now. God is teaching us and training us up in righteousness. It is a difficult road to travel, narrow with steep embankments on both sides. But it is straight. As long as we keep looking forward and upward we will not stumble and fall.
God has told us through this past trip and also through our daily study of the Word and through prayer that we must wait. Waiting on Him to show us EXACTLY what He has planned for us. It is an incredible feeling to know that there IS something greater than what we have planned. It is an anticipation that is similar to that of when I was a child waiting for Christmas day to finally arrive. I knew it was coming and I knew there may be a gift under that tree that I have always wanted! But God's plans are greater than ours. I am SO thankful for that, that He knows us so well that He has something specific for each one of us to accomplish.
So for now we wait, but press on to run the race God has put before us, and to run with endurance, running to win. The Lord has directed us to help Teen Missions Honduras with awareness, funding and prayer and to not go there full-time (at least for now). For now we will do this until the Holy Spirit prompts us to take another step in a different direction. Praying through the adventure...
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." -Galatians 6:9
Corey/Kirsten,
ReplyDeleteWe will continue to pray for you during this waiting period. You are right . . . waiting on God is one of the most difficult things that we can do and too often, those called into missions don't do that and find themselves where they were not called. It takes discernment to hear God telling you to wait- something which you clearly have. Whether God leads tomorrow or many years down the road, His timing is better than our own.

Thanks Aaron, it is always encouraging to hear/read your thoughts. We are sure God has called us to "go", but of course want it to be on his watch.
