We wanted to send out an update before things get crazy and we pack up 9 suitcases, 4 carry-ons, and 4 personal items and head south Sunday night for a long time. We are constantly and THOROUGHLY amazed at how God works when His will is to be accomplished. He sets things in motion, including at times slowing things down, to make things happen where credit can only be given to him as the "coincidences" are way too great. We simply need to be aware and RUN through the doors when they open!

SOLD! We'll miss you Montero! |
Yet again, God blows our minds by providing for our every need. He made it clear to both of us HE would provide and receive glory, so that's what we want to do now and share here with you before time got the best of us... Two weeks ago we decided to put our SUV up for sale. We had been praying about what to do with it for months, but coming down to our last two weeks in the U.S., something needed to happen. So we decided to put it up for sale. Within ONE DAY of us posting it on Craigslist and Facebook, it SOLD!

Front gate of our Honduras home. |
The very next day we got a message from a missionary in Honduras with a different organization who was leaving to come back to the States. Because of his needing to leave, he needed to sell his truck and rent out the house he had been renting. Lo and behold, he was living in the same city we are going to and in the same neighborhood two of our team families live within just a few blocks. So we jumped at this incredible "God-opp" and will be renting the house! On top of that, the house is fully furnished which is exactly what we need since we will be in this city short term (up to 2 years or so) and won't have to buy and move anything (at least not immediately). The house was left in an estate specifically for missionaries to use and our rent will go to two ministries that serve children of low income single-parent homes and poor coffee farmers. What an incredible thing to know that our rent each month goes to support these ministries! Wow, God's plans are SO much better than ours!

Our reliable Honduran transportation... |
The truck this missionary needed to sell just "happen" to be exactly the kind of truck we were looking for as well! It's an Isuzu KB Diesel, which is one of the most common trucks in Honduras. Being diesel it gets great gas mileage, deals with the bad gas better, more power, and parts are very common which also means Honduran mechanics know how to work on them. A bonus benefit is we are less likely to be stopped at the police stops (it's not a "Gringo" truck), which often result in handing over some cash to be able to go on...
God continues to provide and is faithful to see us succeed in Honduras. We are in AWE of Him and look forward to what He will do through us, for us, for the people of Honduras, and for HIS GLORY. PRAISE His name with us!!! Please continue to pray for us during this transition to be ok with things that don't go as we think they should, to be like a child to learn the new culture and language, and for us as a family to be unified putting aside any fleshly reactions and responses as we know stress can cause. Pray for peace and no anxiousness. We thank you for your prayers and partnership!
Our next update will be shortly after we arrive with photos... we anticipate moving into the house around Aug. 20 (which happens to be our 18th wedding anniversary - what a way to spend it!).
Dios te bendiga (God bless you),

Wow, God is good! Sorry we havn't been too comunicative, but we have just survived our busiest month. God did some amazing things, however, and has placed before us more exciting challenges.
ReplyDeleteWe are praying for you. Go, immerse, relax--really--and keep trusting God!
