This past week has been an incredible ride for the Wells family. For me personally (Corey) I have seen His direct answer to our prayers. While I can't describe the awe I feel towards my Savior, I can say this: HE IS GOOD.
Since we have returned from Honduras just over a month ago, we have been overwhelmed by how great God is and how He meets our needs so specifically. This past week we moved out of our house into an apartment. Both Kirsten and I had been praying about what we should do with our house and the best way to begin the process to get to Honduras. One of our obstacles, if not the biggest, was our house. We want to be free of any sort of debt when we go to Honduras full-time, but selling our house this time of year and in this economy was not panning out like we had hoped. We began praying that God would provide a family to rent our house who would treat it as their own, thinking the first of the year would be ideal to do so. Not only did He rent our home, but he brought about a family in a matter of days! We had about two days (that's optimistic) to pack an entire house and move it to an apartment. Over half of what we owned either went to Goodwill or to storage. That would make most people anxious, and honestly, I was at first. But then I began to see God's fingerprints all over this. The incredible details that He was taking care of, not only for us but for the family moving into our home, was and still is overwhelming!
In the two days we had to search for an apartment we did not find much. Most landlords were saying there would be an apartment available Dec. 1st. On Wednesday, Kirsten was working in Keizer (Eye Care Physicians & Surgeons) and went for a walk during her lunch hour. The medical complex there surrounds a lake with a path around it. She noticed an apartment complex right there on the lake and decided just to check it out. They had one apartment open that day! It still had not been cleaned yet but would be ready on Thursday, the day we needed to move. She quickly called me and I went to look at it with her. The next day we moved in! Only in God's timing can that happen!
Then this morning I was getting ready for work and was watching the geese and ducks fly around the lake. I was reminded again of the Lord's words to me that He would provide for me and my family, moreso than He provides for the birds (Matt. 6:26). It was a comforting thought and an overwhelming peace came over me. We want to give God glory for all He has done and continues to do through us. We are thoroughly amazed at His love and faithfulness to us and how He is using us to encourage and build up the body of believers.
To Him be the glory!
