Since C.I. Scofield founded Central American Mission (CAM) in 1890, Latin America has literally been changed by its influence and the gospel. And 122 years later, CAM International has a worldwide outreach. Their mission is to to produce and empower committed followers of Jesus Christ in Spanish-speaking areas to reach the world. Their mission involves every aspect of the Great Commission to send, go, preach, disciple, train, and multiply. They have a unique approach to worldwide missions by using Spanish-speakers, who are already adept to third-world cultures and conditions, to get into areas that typical anglo-North Americans cannot.
With new opportunities to reach unreached cultures both in closed countries and tribal areas of Latin America, CAM saw the need to incorporate a new name to reflect this change. Camino Global, which means "global journey" or "worldwide path", is CAM's new name as of 2012. In the coming months they will be presenting their new logo and materials.
We are excited about this change and welcome the new name, knowing that it may open doors that otherwise may not have been with the old name. Our focus on Honduras is not only for those people. Our focus ties into Camino Global's larger picture of sending Spanish-speakers into hard to reach places around the world such as Albania, Turkey, Philippines and beyond. The Garifuna people are an obvious step of Camino Global's focus to use Spanish-speakers to touch the world for Christ.
If you support us financially, you may see new materials as the new logo and brand is developed. Know that our mission has not changed, only its face so that it might advance the gospel even more. If you have any questions about any of this or would like more info about Camino Global's worldwide mission, please let us know. Thank you!
