Family, Friends & Training

Enjoying the "Harvest Fair" in a nearby town.
Wow, we can't believe that our time here at CIT in North Carolina is almost over! We've experienced and learned so much since we've been here and have made friendships that will be with us for the rest of our lives. We will so miss our new friends but know that the Lord will be using them all over the world making an impact upon lives in places like Spain, Morocco, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Romania, Tajikistan, Pakistan, India, Thailand, Bolivia, and right here in Union Mills, NC.

We have gone through 5 weeks of intercultural training covering a multitude of topics, 2 weeks of language acquisition which will help us learn any new language, 2 weeks of team dynamics training, and have just headed into a week of interpersonal skills and communication. Next week will be our final week here and will focus on church planting. Through all of this training, the facilitators at CIT have been very intentional about meeting each missionary at the heart level and dive deep into who we are at the core of our being to make sure we are firmly planted on the Gospel. Not only have we received world-class training from some of the best teachers available, we have received discipleship from them as well. They are all well-educated missionaries with extensive experience on the field who have experienced the ups and downs of life as a missionary. They have been able to impart much wisdom, understanding and experience into us. We have grown to love them dearly and we are very grateful for their service to the Lord through CIT.

Along with all of this training for us, our boys have been getting similar training. As we go through a module, at the end of each day we are given a slip of paper with questions to ask our boys. These go right along with what we learn during that day, but on a level they understand and are engaged in. It has been awesome to see the growth in both of them and to see the Holy Spirit move in their lives.

It is bitter-sweet to think about leaving here, but we know that this time was for a season and purpose to make us more effective on the field. We are excited about the next phase of our ministry as we head back to Oregon to let more people know about what God is calling us to in Honduras. We need a little more support to come in before we are released to the field (about 18% more), but know that God's resources are unlimited. We know He has called us to this and will provide for us as we need in His timing. Our goal is to be fully funded by the beginning of the new year so we can move to Honduras to begin ministry, Lord willing of course! We are so grateful to those who have believed in what God has called us to, how He has equipped us, and for the prayers of those who intercede for us. We could not do what we are doing without your prayers and support. Thank you!

Daily we lift up those who pray for and support our ministry and we love doing it! Please let us know how we can pray for you as well.

For His purposes and glory,
Corey, Kirsten, Gavin & Garret
